Listen to your intuition!  A huge part of staying safe while traveling is being aware of you and your surroundings at all times.  Intuition helps you with that.

Have you ever been enjoying yourself, having fun, laughing out loud and then you feel as if something shifted, something doesn’t feel right?  You ignored the feeling because you were having fun but the feeling persisted.  Next thing you know you’re in a situation that is not comfortable and you’re looking for a way out.

Listen to your intuition! A huge part of staying safe while traveling is being aware of you and your surroundings at all times. Intuition helps you with that. Have you ever been enjoying yourself, having fun, laughing out loud and then you feel as if something shifted, something doesn't feel right? You ignored the feeling because you were having fun but the feeling persisted. Next thing you know you're in a situation that is not comfortable and you're looking for a way out.In Australia, I was walking to my hotel in pouring cold rain.  I noticed a car driving slowly behind me and then beside me.  I started walking faster.  The car kept pace and then pulled up on the sidewalk in front of me.  There was a man inside, he let down his window and very nicely asked, “may I take you to where you’re going?”  Instantly, I knew that he wasn’t one to get into the car with. So I said “No thank you” and kept on walking.

Now in New Zealand, I had the complete opposite experience.  I was sitting in the lobby of the Hostel in which I was staying, a man walked up to me and said, “I’m going to take you somewhere nice when I get off.”  I said okay, even though I had never seen or met him before.  We went out after he got off work and he took me to the most amazing Maori Village.  Later that evening he invited me to go with him to visit his fiance’ three hours away. While driving, he asked, “Do you always get in cars with strange men?”  I said “NO” and told him about the Australia incident.

The difference in going with one and not the other is that I listened and paid attention to my intuition.  In the first offer what started out as an awareness of the car grew into ‘bells’ going off all over me.  In the second, there was a peace and calmness about all of it.

One of the greatest things you can do for yourself and your life is to listen to your intuition.  It will guide you and help keep you safe.  Intuition is with you at all times.  Here is one strategy I use when I’m not quite sure if it is intuition or ego.

  1. Stand erect, with shoulders back and down.
  2. Breathe deeply three times.
  3. Place your hands over your abdomen below your navel.
  4. Close your eyes.
  5. Ask a ‘yes’ or ‘no’ question about whatever it is that causes you to be unsure.

Your body will lean forward for ‘yes’ and backward for ‘no’.  If it really doesn’t matter you will remain still. Sometimes you will not like the answer, you can choose to follow it or not.

Listening to your intuition supports you in living, traveling, and being who you desire to be at all times.
