It is past time that we wear whatever the hell we want as women over 50! We live in a world that is ever changing and becoming more globally aware. Now is the time to release all the illusions that have held us hostage far too long, wearing what others told us to wear.
I’ve been researching the trends for women over 50 and am appalled at those who dare tell us what to wear! We have been wearing clothes since the beginning, choosing what we like and what looks great (or not) on us.
While researching, I discovered that much of the material was written by people who are more than 20 years younger than 50. This made me think of times when I was younger and would see someone older wearing something that I thought would have looked better on a younger person.
Coming full circle, I’ve learned to be:
- Less judgmental.
- Less opinionated.
- Have fewer viewpoints.
I now know that we can wear whatever the hell we want at any age! We live in a world of choice!
We’ve been dressing for more than four decades and know something about what we like and don’t like. Is it really anybody’s business to tell us what to wear? Does telling someone else what to wear come from being judgmental, opinionated, and filled with viewpoints?
Something to think about as we embrace 50 and beyond, is that our bodies have changed as well as our minds. We can choose to change our style to fit more closely with who we are, who we be and whom we’re becoming. In this mindset, we choose colors, fabrics, cut and style that flatter us now.
You decide what to wear based on how you feel, how you look, where you’re going and what you’re doing.
You choose as a woman over 50, you decide and then wear it.
If you like bold colors wear them.
If you like muted colors wear them.
If you like loose clothing wear them.
If you like fitted clothing wear them.
If you like fitted clothing with a drape or jacket, wear them.
If you like natural hair wear it.
If you like heels and/or flats wear them.
As a woman over 50 you get to choose how you want your physical appearance and dress to be perceived. Having an ageless attitude determines how you are perceived.
You get the idea: wear whatever the hell you like AND look and feel great!
