It seems that no matter where we are on life’s journey, we encounter negatives that if focused on will totally derail us. Glance at the negative, be aware of it, notice how it makes you feel then regroup and focus on the positive. Your life is yours to design, create, live and love. For boomer women choosing to change their life and create something different, a chance remark from a well meaning child, friend or spouse can be a negative.
Do not allow yourself to dwell too much on the remark because it takes away the positive energy necessary to continue on your journey. Glance at the remark, note it and move forward. Boomer women often spend too much time rehashing the remark because it came from a love one. Remember the love one only sees with her eyes and cannot possibly know what or how you feel, think or your desires. You’ve already expressed to your love ones your goals; it doesn’t matter.
When people see you beginning to change right before their eyes, they wonder “where do I fit into this?” Reassure them that your new life does not change your love for them in fact you can now love them more! You can love them more because being a boomer woman engaged in your very own life creation love just emanates from you because you’ve found freedom.
Great post Inez, I agree. The more we get away from being focused on the negative the easier it is to create the life we really want!

Wendy,
Thanks so much for your comment. Isn’t it amazing how easy it is to focus on what we don’t want rather than what we say we want?
You’re right, Inez.
A negative comment can take over our thoughts if we don’t stay focused on our plans and goals. I like the idea of glancing at the comment … and moving on by it to my next positively energizing idea. Thank you for the reminder.

Judith,
You’re welcome. Love your “positively energizing idea.”
I am a firm believer that success begins in the mind and have written a number of posts on the subject. I do believe the reason some women find it easier to focus more on the negatives is because they tend to surround themselves with others who are like-minded. “Woe is me!”
My motto for 2010 is “Surround yourself with brilliance and then rise to the occasion!” That means no naysayers and no negative energy in my path.

Bev, Love your motto for 2010! Let’s check in periodically to talk about how it’s working.
